Spokane Zero Waste is teaming up with River City Youth Ops for an Earth Day Block Party and ReCraft Fair on Saturday, April 26th, from 2-5 PM at West Central Abbey (Elm & Dean)! We're bringing our community together for a day of sustainability, creativity, and fun.
Expect:
- Upcycling Activities for Youth
- A Clothing Swap & Photo Booth Fashion Show
- Bike Rodeo where youth can sharpen biking skills in a safe, closed-off street!
- Food Trucks & Live Music
- Community Organizations: Learn about amazing environmental work in Spokane!
We're aiming to make this a super fun, low-waste event and we need volunteers for the following:
2 Greeters: Welcome participants and orient youth to activities and how to enter raffle.
6 Waste Station attendants: Help make this a low-waste event by assisting with collection and proper sorting of recyclables, food waste for composting and trash. A 1 hour training will be provided
3-5 Crafters: We need people to help youth with pre-designed upcycling projects, make alterations for clothes from the clothing swap and to demonstrate a mending or upcycling technique like un-knitting a sweater for the yarn.
